Embark on a remarkable journey through the Western Wilderness as you conquer Mount Kilimanjaro on the breathtaking Shira Route. Starting at the Shira Gate, you’ll venture into the misty rainforest, gradually ascending to Shira 1 Camp. The expansive views of Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape will leave you in awe. Continuing across the Shira Plateau, you’ll reach Shira 2 Camp, nestled beneath the towering Shira Cathedral.
As you ascend through moorland and alpine desert terrain, you’ll pass by the striking Lava Tower and conquer the iconic Barranco Wall. The views from Barranco Camp are simply breathtaking, offering a glimpse of the challenges that lie ahead.
The Karanga Valley welcomes you with its unique flora as you make your way to Karanga Camp. Rest and prepare for the ultimate push to the summit. Barafu Camp, situated at the base of the summit, awaits you with its arctic desert environment and magnificent glacier views.
The summit day will be a test of your endurance and determination. With a midnight start, you’ll trek through the night, reaching Stella Point to witness the glorious sunrise. Pushing forward, you’ll conquer the summit at Uhuru Peak, an achievement that will forever be etched in your memory.
Descending through the lush rainforest, you’ll reach Mweka Gate, where you’ll receive your well-deserved summit certificates. Bid farewell to your mountain crew and return to Arusha/Moshi to celebrate your remarkable feat.

Full Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania and Transfer to Arusha/Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport.
Meet your guide and transfer to your hotel in Arusha/Moshi.
Attend a pre-trek briefing and equipment check.
Rest and prepare for the upcoming trek.
Day 2: Shira Gate to Shira 1 Camp
After breakfast, drive to the Shira Gate (3,000 meters) where you will complete registration formalities.
Begin the trek through the rainforest, gradually ascending.
Enjoy the scenic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and the surrounding landscape.
Reach Shira 1 Camp (3,505 meters) for overnight camping.
Take in the breathtaking views and acclimate to the higher altitude.
Day 3: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp
Continue the trek across the Shira Plateau, characterized by its vast open space and stunning scenery.
Ascend to Shira 2 Camp (3,900 meters) nestled beneath the Shira Cathedral.
Marvel at the panoramic views of the surrounding peaks.
Overnight camping at Shira 2 Camp.
Day 4: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp
Trek through moorland and alpine desert terrain.
Reach Lava Tower (4,630 meters), a volcanic rock formation.

Overnight camping at Barranco Camp.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Arrive at Karanga Camp (4,035 meters) for overnight camping.
Rest and prepare for the upcoming summit attempt.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Ascend to Barafu Camp (4,640 meters), the base camp for the summit push.
Traverse through the arctic desert, with stunning views of the surrounding glaciers.
Rest, hydrate, and mentally prepare for the summit attempt.
Overnight camping at Barafu Camp.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak and Descent to Mweka Camp
Begin the summit attempt around midnight, trekking through the night.
Reach Stella Point (5,685 meters), where you can witness the magnificent sunrise.
Continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895 meters), the highest point in Africa, and celebrate your accomplishment.
Descend back to Barafu Camp for a short rest and meal.
Continue descending to Mweka Camp (3,100 meters) for overnight camping.
Day 8: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure
Descend through the lush rainforest, enjoying the sights and sounds of the surrounding nature.
Arrive at Mweka Gate (1,640 meters) and receive your summit certificates.
Say goodbye to your mountain crew and transfer back to Arusha/Moshi.
Celebrate your successful summit and bid farewell to Tanzania.
