Route Overview
Embark on a classic Kilimanjaro adventure with the Marangu Route, known as the Coca-Cola Route. This 5-day trek offers a comfortable and well-established path to the summit. The route features hut accommodations, providing a touch of comfort compared to camping options. Throughout the journey, you’ll be immersed in the beauty of Kilimanjaro’s diverse landscapes, from lush rainforests to barren alpine deserts.
Your trek begins at the Marangu Gate, where you’ll enter Kilimanjaro National Park. Traverse through the rainforest, witnessing the rich flora and fauna. As you ascend, the vegetation transitions, offering unique sights and breathtaking views of the surrounding scenery.
Reaching Mandara Hut, the first overnight stop, you’ll experience basic dormitory-style accommodation. The following day takes you through the heath and moorland zone, leading you to Horombo Hut. Nestled amidst stunning vistas, this hut offers a resting place for acclimatization.
The next leg of the journey leads to Kibo Hut, the base camp for the summit attempt. Rest and prepare for the challenging summit push. Wake up before midnight and embark on an unforgettable adventure to Gilman’s Point and Uhuru Peak, the summit of Kilimanjaro. Celebrate your accomplishment while taking in the awe-inspiring views from the Roof of Africa.
After descending to Kibo Hut and further down to Horombo Hut, you’ll conclude your trek at the Marangu Gate. Receive your well-deserved summit certificates and bid farewell to your guides and porters.
